Normatec recovery system is a compression therapy system designed to aid in recovery and rehabilitation. It uses pneumatic compression to enhance blood flow and fluid movement in the limbs.

Here’s how Normatec’s Recovery System typically works:

  1. Compression Sleeves or Boots: The Normatec Recovery System consists of inflatable sleeves or boots that you wear on your legs, hips or arms, depending on the area you want to target with compression. These sleeves have multiple chambers that can be inflated and deflated independently.
  2. Sequential Compression: The system works by sequentially inflating and deflating these chambers in a specific pattern. This sequential compression starts distally (farthest from the heart) and moves proximally (towards the heart). This mimics the natural muscle pump mechanism of the body, aiding in the circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid.
  3. Enhanced Circulation: As the chambers inflate, they gently squeeze the limbs, promoting blood flow and flushing out metabolic waste and toxins. This helps reduce inflammation, alleviate muscle soreness, and accelerate recovery after intense workouts or injury.
  4. Adjustable Pressure and Programs: Our Normatec 3 system comes with adjustable pressure settings, duration and various pre-programmed modes tailored for different needs, such as recovery, rehabilitation, or relaxation.

Who should use Normatec recovery therapy?

Normatec recovery therapy is widely used by athletes, physical therapists, and individuals seeking faster recovery times, reduced soreness and improved performance. Compression has been used in various forms to manage injury recovery for many decades. It’s especially popular in sports medicine and rehabilitation settings but is also increasingly being used for general wellness purposes. Our Normatec system ideally fits individuals between the height of 5’4″ to 6’3″. Individuals with tenderness or fullness in the extremities may respond well to this therapy. Vasopneumatic devices similar to the Normatec recovery system are used in medical settings to help manage swelling, edema due to a medical diagnosis, recent injury or surgery. We offer individual sessions or consider purchasing a recovery package that allows for a slight discount per session.

Who should not use the Normatec recovery therapy?

Please Note: Not every patient will be eligible for the Normatec recovery system. Before beginning your first session, you will meet with a provider who will screen for any possible reason you may not respond well or have an adverse reaction from the treatment.
